GiveIndia is trying to win 1 of 100 grants of $25,000 being awarded by Chase Community Giving. They are going to give the grants to the NGOs that have the most votes on a contest on Facebook. Currently we have 250 votes but that is NOT enough. We need each one of our friends to vote for us, and we need you to tell your friends to vote for us!
We just wanted to tell all our friends in Singapore that GiveIndia will be featured on Channel News Asia. A brand new series called Gifts will be premiering on November 25 and they have featured GiveIndia in the very first episode.
You can if you have a minute to spare and are on Facebook -- the world's hottest social networking site!
If GiveIndia wins, we will use this money to increase the treasure chest for our next India Giving Challenge (which this year gave away more than Rs. 50 lacs ~USD 100,000 in matching grants to the winners of the challenge).
So what do you need to do (please use Internet Explorer - this does not work on Google Chrome)
1. Click here to be taken to the GiveIndia page and vote for Give Foundation Inc (i.e. GiveIndia's registered entity in the US). If you don't land on this page then go to here instead and search for "Give Foundation Inc." and then vote. You will be able to see all those who have voted thus far. Before you vote, you need to become a FAN of Chase Community Giving which you can do by clicking on the Become a Fan button above the Vote Now button.
2. Once you've voted, go to the end of the page and spread the word around with all the sharing options given there. i.e.
- Tweet about it if you have an active Twitter account
- Post it to your Wall on Facebook so that all your friends and family can see it.
- Invite all your friends to vote
- If you have a website, do host the Community Giving Badge as well
We are putting ourselves a tough target of 10,000 votes. Its a challenging target but definitely attainable so do help us get there by voting and more importantly spreading the word about it. Remember the last date is December 11 so do get going!
We wish there was some kind of a leaderboard to spur us on but let that not be the reason why you don't vote or get everyone you know to vote. It certainly cannot get simpler than this!
We are also looking for a volunteer/team to drive this initiative and help us get to our target. Do let us know if you find this interesting, if you are a star at Web 2.0 or simply someone who has faith that the target is doable and will go all out and reach out and make this happen. We would love to hear from you.
Across the country Children's Day is being celebrated today. The Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his wife Gursharan Kaur met with children at their residence while the Dalai Lama blessed children in Arunachal Pradesh.GiveIndia sent out a special Children's Day email to all our supporters and friends. We'd like to thank Sudhir Singrakhia and his team at ZWA! for helping design the mailer.
We'd like to share this poem with you because we each have the power to positively influence the life of child, not only as a parent but as a teacher, uncle, aunt, grandparent, or friend.

Our Head of Payroll Giving, Mathan Varkey, shares the latest news from the programme:
" These 6 months have seen the programme being implemented at the Aditya Birla Group, Deloitte, Eclipsys, HSBC Investdirect, Lintas, Onmobile, Religare and Vodafone.
The response from the employees has been most positive, thanks partly to some inspiring launch mails sent out by CEOs like Martin Peter of Vodafone, Balki of Lintas, Udayan Sen of Deloitte, Ravishankar of Geometric and Salil Parekh of Capgemini. At each of these companies we had approximately 40-50% of employees met signing up for the programme. And they signed up for a good monthly contribution of Rs 200.
My sincere thanks to the strong support from co-ordinators Prema, Jyotsna, Shivani and Priya of Vodafone, Nutan from Onmobile, Sandeep from Deloitte, and Sunil from Lintas. The sign up drive at Geometric and Capgemini has just commenced, and I am sure we will get a similar response from there as well with the support of Rajesh and Namita of Capgemini and Deepak and Harsha from Geometric.
We now have over 30,000 employees contributing an average of Rs170 every month.
We are shortly expecting Tech Mahindra, Cognizant, BBC, Blue Dart, DHL, Escorts, Fortis, Fidelity, Tata Capital, CMC, UB Group and some others to launch as well ."
